Yesterday, two years ago we opened the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum. With help from a lot friends from all over the world we managed to start a great museum and realized Henk’s dream. Opening day and night was one to remember forever! Unfortunately we had to end this in a bad way due to our “financier’s” incompetence. *UPDATE* Several people have written us regarding these photos, and it seems that they are Hungarian prison tattoos taken of inmates. The text in most of the photos are the prisoners names, but in some cases the text describes the location of the tattoo, where and why the prisoner was tattooed. This week we received a note from the city council that we are still in the running for the Oosterkerk in Amsterdam as a new possible location for the Tattican. We’ll keep you informed on this!
Meanwhile, our pop-up shop at the van Woustraat is doing great. With the help of our resident artists Danny Boy, Tiziana and Dan Dringenberg and several guest artists like Chris Garver, Lucky Bastard, Sousyu and later this year we expect visits from Indio Reyes, Bong Padilla, Tattoo Rich, Tim Hendricks, Corey Miller and Ami James.
